Swan Space, a lifestyle, apparel and accessories boutique, is the latest addition to join the collection of retailers and restaurants at The Works, Selig Enterprises’ 80-acre adaptive reuse development in Atlanta’s Upper Westside. Set to open to the public later this summer, Swan Space is the newest concept from artist and entrepreneur, Anahata Joy, and her first store in Atlanta.

Located in the Makers Building next to BRASH Coffee Roasters, the 3,000-square-foot Swan Space will offer women’s apparel; artisanal studio-made jewelry; a unique beauty and apothecary selection, including a perfume bar featuring Joy’s own products; and home decor and art. Joy’s background in imports allows her to source eclectic finds, like pottery from the Sahara Desert or jewelry from Tuscany.

“My vision for Swan Space comes from the idea that one’s well-being should be celebrated and uplifted through personal style,” said Joy in a statement. “The name and concept is all about the beauty of transformation, and I’m excited to bring this unique shopping experience to the Upper Westside. I’ve called Atlanta home for six years now, and I’m excited to introduce a new locally owned retail offering – something the city needs more of as it continues to grow. I believe Swan Space will match the dynamic energy of Atlanta’s art scene and serve as a place to find beauty in transcendence and individuality.”

Joy has been in the retail industry for 20 years, and moved to the Atlanta area because of her interest in the burgeoning small business scene. She also owns Jupiter Row in Ashland, Oregon, and a wholesale business, which she runs out of the AmericasMart Atlanta. She chose The Works as the location for her first Atlanta store because of its commitment to being a good partner to small businesses, and she felt the communal vibe of the development was a good fit for Swan Space.

“Anahata is such a wonderful, creative force, and her new collection of apparel and lifestyle offerings will further elevate the shopping experience at The Works,” said Mindy Selig, Senior Vice President at Selig. “The tenant mix at The Works is filled with distinctive, local concepts that blend well with the artistic aesthetic of Swan Space, and we look forward to partnering with another Atlanta business owner.”

Swan Space joins over 50 tenants within the first phase of The Works, which includes Chattahoochee Food Works, a 31-stall food hall, Taste Wine Bar and Market, Fetch Park, BRASH Coffee, Your 3rd Spot, Fox Bros Bar-B-Q, Dr. Scofflaw’s, Ballard Designs, Les Mains Nail Bar, Adelina Social Goods, Stellar Bodies, Tinte Salon, BOBO Intriguing Objects, and many more – with additional tenants set to open this year. Office tenants at The Works include Uppercut, iHeart Media and MacDermid. The project’s first phase also features The Camp, a one-acre signature park, and The Spur, a 970-foot linear pedestrian gathering area. A 306-unit apartment community, Westbound at The Works, is currently under construction and scheduled to welcome its first residents this fall.
