It’s an ambitious goal for the Buckhead Point restaurant which has only just started permitting with the City of Atlanta to buildout its 2,261-square-foot space, formerly occupied by Traditions in Tile, at 3210 Roswell Road Suite C.

“I wanted to open an establishment that encourages guests to put their phones away, and have real human interactions,” Owner Kelan Watson Thursday told What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview.

“Our bar will be shaped like a lollipop, with the circular area being where drinks are made and served, and the ‘stick,’ a long counter accessible from either side with just enough room for guests to set their drinks on. I think people will talk to each other, standing there, enjoying their cocktails.”

The “super whimsical” space will include a private dining area and will repurpose the marble flooring left behind by Traditions.

On the cocktail menu will be “high-end” wines, cognacs, bourbons, and whiskeys, inspired by the more than 50 countries Watson has visited.

“Sovereign sweets will be more of an experience,” she said.

An element of nostalgia will be created through “desserts you ate as a child” such as cotton candy, banana splits, paired of course, with more sophisticated options.

There will also be an “old school candy corner with candy by the pound that you can’t find anymore.”

Portraits of five influential Atlantans made out of candy will greet guests at the entrance.

“These Atlantans paved the way for me and other women to open an establishment like Sovereign Sweets in the City.”
