The hotel will feature 125 rooms, 3k SF of meeting space, a cafe and restaurant/lounge area.

“The hotel will not only bring new lodging to a hotel-barren area, but also retail and restaurants to a location that is in need of these services and redevelopment,” Tiffany Wills with project manager company Paneris said.

Choice had one other attempt in introducing the Cambria brand to the Atlanta market. The project began near Hartsfield-Jackson in 2008 but was halted in 2009 due to the recession.

Choice is investing $2.7 million towards the Downtown project to go towards redevelopment costs.

  1. I wish we had a grocery store downtown. I know, I know, Kroger tried it and lost money daily from all the thieving. But, the area is a food wasteland.
I wish the powers that be would tear down the old AJC building on Forsyth Street NOW, which has become such an eyesore and a magnet for druggies. It makes downtown Atlanta look like a third-world country to anyone new to the city who comes topside at the 5 Points MARTA station.
I wish Atlanta would widen the sidewalk on the Forsyth Street side of the aforementioned building, so folks waiting for buses would not be so jammed and pedestrians could pass.
I wish the McDonalds at the base of the federal building on Forsyth Street would be closed. It tends to attract troublemakers, both during the day but especially after business hours. The sidewalks around it are always covered in grease, throw-up, trash and human excrement. Exactly the kind of debris one does NOT want to look at or walk through, while going to or leaving work or going out mid-day. Let’s take back the city from the miscreants who have little to no societal norms, i.e., common civilities.
