Cam Newton and family will open a new restaurant in the space that last housed Smoke Ring, the barbecue restaurant that closed down in 2019 after six years of operation. According to an LLC filing with the State of Georgia, Bethany Newton, who is also the registered agent for Fellaship Lounge LLC, has registered Smokey Stallion LLC to 309 Nelson St. SW.

An image shared by a What Now Atlanta reader, shows signage in the storefront window that reads “Smokey Stallion Coming Soon.” The signs, which the reader shared went up just last week, indicate Smokey Stallion will maintain the tradition of serving smoked meats and barbecue from the restaurant space.

This of course isn’t the first restaurant the Newtons have opened in Atlanta. Cam Newton, the New England Patriots quarterback, and Cecil Newton Jr. founded Fellaship, a fine dining cigar bar and restaurant, that is located just around the corner from the new venture. We were unable to reach the Newtons at the time of publication, so you’ll want to keep an eye on that storefront to learn just when its doors will open.
