UPDATE (December 7, 2017): Regal Is Bringing Atlanta’s First 4DX Theater To Atlantic Station
Regal Entertainment Group could be overhauling its Atlantic Station cinema to the tune of $1,700,000.
A permit application filed with the City of Atlanta calls for a “tenant remodel” of the Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 16 IMAX, RPX & VIP.
Atlantic Station representatives didn’t “have any new information at this time” regarding the proposed renovation when reached by What Now Atlanta (WNA) for comment.
Regal did not return several calls and emails by WNA Wednesday and Thursday.
In September Nick Garzia, director of retail leasing for Hines, the developer that recently acquired Atlantic Station, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “talks are underway about renovations to the Regal Cinemas.”
The renovations would give the “theaters inside a more luxurious experience,” he said.
It’s possible that Hines filed the plans to expedite talks with its tenant as the developer moves forward with an overhaul of Atlantic Station.
The overhaul includes the expansion of its Central Park, new storefronts, a 300-unit apartment tower by developer AMLI Residential, and a retail and restaurant expansion of nearly 25,000 square feet.
Changes are already underway.
Victoria’s Secret will soon undergo a renovation of its storefront and retail space and H&M will soon expand its Atlantic Station footprint becoming the fashion retailer’s Southeast Flagship.
In related news, Landmark’s Midtown Art Cinema a few miles away will soon undergo a complete remodel, totaling $2,500,000 in upgrades.

I sure hope it gets renovated. I’ve been coming here for a couple years now and it’s quite run down. I usually prefer Phipps Plaza because it is nicer but it’s not close by.
They already did an expansion where the former bowling alley once was. The problem is that they don’t have the staff to actually run a bar well. Any time i’ve been there it’s slow as molasses in terms of service. Their biggest problem has always been the perpetual back-up at concessions. I’ve waited over 20min before. They could really benefit from a layout similar to the AMC @ Phipps that’s more segmented and prevents bottle-necking.
