The corporate-owned Illinois-based restaurant chain is considering opening locations in metro Atlanta as the company seeks to enter one or two markets each year, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.

It was not immediately clear when expansion to Georgia would begin or where exactly they would be located, according to the news outlet, but CEO Michael Osanloo said the aim is to open six to eight restaurants within individual metro areas.

Portillo’s serves Chicago-style hot dogs and other signature items like cheese fries and the Chocolate Cake Shake.

Dick Portillo started the company’s first hot dog stand in 1963. Portillo’s has since expanded to more than 70 restaurants across several states, including California, Florida, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota and Texas. Different stores keep things interesting with varied aesthetics, including a diner theme, a 70s theme and a garage theme, according to the company website.

A new Texas location of Portillo’s is planned for Mansfield, What Now Dallas recently reported, a relatively new market for the chain.
