The 5,175-square-foot store is planned for 3645 Wheeler Road, according to construction plans. The site near Doctors Hospital of Augusta was formerly a two-story Wachovia bank. Some neighbors have expressed concerns about the store opening at an already-busy intersection, The Augusta Chronicle reports.

Parker’s Kitchen was founded in 1976, first opening in Midway, Georgia. There are now about 80 stores in Georgia and South Carolina. The company has been eyeing Augusta for expansion, announcing last summer that they were also looking to open a 3,800-square-foot store at Windsor Spring and Tobacco roads at a former Popeyes restaurant.

“As we looked for opportunities to expand, Augusta was a natural fit for us, since it’s a growing market that builds upon our existing corporate footprint,” founder and CEO Greg Parker said at the time.

Several new stores are also planned for South Carolina, What Now Charleston reports.

Parker’s Kitchen offers a variety of grab-and-go eats as well as a hot bar serving Southern favorites like chicken tenders and biscuits and gravy.

Construction bids for the Wheeler Road location are due May 21, 2024.
