Anna and Raymond Hsu, owners of Pacific Rim, decided the restaurant located at SunTrust Plaza since 1998 needed a more modern feel, according to the release.

The restaurant now boasts a new private dining room as well as a storefront that opens up to the patio increasing Pacific Rim’s space by over 1,000 square feet.

Here are so more details from the release:

Pacific Rim Bistro will also have new contemporary furniture both inside the restaurant and outside on the patio. The sushi bar now has lower bar seating so guests can feel more intimately connected to the sushi chefs; the patio will feature lounge seating where guests can get comfortable while sipping on signature cocktails.

The fresh new look focuses on the restaurant’s overall oceanic theme. The textured walls feature architectural paneling with a rippled effect while the Eurofase glass chandeliers were designed to resemble the waves of an ocean. The ceiling has uniquely shaped “sails” displayed as a way of completing the majestic oceanic theme.

  1. Hope they’re doing something with the exterior. Almost all of those Portman buildings are fortresses and scream “GO AWAY!”. I have lived less than a quarter of a mile from Pacific Rim Bistro for ten years but have never bothered to go in. It looks so uninviting. I just assumed that it was mainly conventioneers on expense accounts that kept them in business.

  2. I feel the same way Jason. I don’t even know why this city honored Portman by renaming a street after him when he completely ruined parts of downtown at street-level.

  3. I discovered Pacific Rim during a Downtown Restaurant week a few years back. Liked it and went back one other time. Hope to go more often, now.
Disagree with the comment on Portman’s contributions. Without his vision and execution of Peachtree Center, downtown would’ve probably turned into a ghost town with the suburban mall explosion, Totally agree that Harris Street should NOT have been renamed to honor John Portman. He deserves far better. A statue in a square in the heart of Peachtree Center or something like that.
