Co-owned by Angelo Sykes and Levonder Moore, an exact reopening date has not yet been set but in a statement to What Now Atlanta, Sykes said they are hoping to open up in early November.

It was previously located at 397 N. Central Ave. and before that, it was at 800 Marietta St. in Atlanta. Both moves came as a result of the properties being sold to an investment company to build new apartment complexes.

The new location is part of a 30,031 square foot retail center that was built in 2007. It is still close to the headquarters of Porsche and Delta Airlines, as well as Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and features over 150 parking spaces.

Back in June, the comedy club announced via social media that it was relocating and invited guests to follow their move and reopening date on their website. “We have temporarily closed the doors until we finish preparing the new doors! Stay tuned!!!,” an Instagram post read at the time.

In September, a video showing some of the construction work being done on the new space was posted. “Uptown Comedy Corner is coming back soon, we working hard to give you the best! Stay tuned!! Like the Jeffersons, we moving on UP!!,” an accompanying caption read.

Over the years, Uptown Comedy Corner has built up a loyal following and attracted big names such as Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, Mo’Nique, Steve Harvey and Ricky Smiley to its stage. “Despite all the stand-up comedy on television, and all the comedy shows in the arenas and theaters, our customers continue to show that nothing compares with the up-close and personal feeling of Uptown’s main showroom,” their website reads.

Comedy Corner’s N. Central location featured a lounge called the Uptown Lounge with outside seating. The menu included such dishes as chicken wings, shrimp and grits, baby lamb chops, and a variety of cocktails, wine, champagne and beer.

Sykes said the new club will be extremely nice, include a separate VIP section with a great view, and feature new menu items. “We will be adding some new items to the menu, such as a salmon quesadilla, salmon strips and a few other items,” said Sykes. “The overall club will give the feel of the original Uptown, as it is upstairs and has that same appeal to it.”

He is encouraging both old and new fans of Uptown to “get ready for a spectacular venue, all new staff and the return of the #1 Comedy Club and longest running Black-owned Comedy Club in the country.”
