Carl Northrop said that Langston’s Cafe will be something of “a coworking space, with books, things like that. More of an eclectic vibe.”

The cafe is one of several specialized concepts branching off the Black Coffee ATL brand that Northrop has established in Atlanta. As What Now Atlanta previously reported, Black Coffee ATL has closed its Castleberry Hill location, with plans to open at The Vivian apartment complex in October.

“When Black Coffee opened, the goal was to have two separate vibes – cafe during the day, coffee-infused cocktails, hookah in the evenings,” he told What Now Atlanta. “But it’s kind of hard to cater to both those crowds. What we’re doing is dividing the concept into the Black Coffee everybody knows and loves, what [will be] at The Vivian. With Edgewood it will be both concepts – coffee, the late-night vibe.”

Northrop said Langston’s Cafe could open in November.

He is also developing a new concept called The Barista and Baker with Shane Quillin, the owner of Sugar Shane’s. Locations are planned for Decatur and Lawrenceville.
