The affordable housing project is proposed for 390 Sunset Avenue NW, according to construction documents. The development would be about 16,200 square feet, according to the plans, with studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Plans for a laundry room, bike room and mail room are also indicated in the documents.

The 26-unit development comes from Westside Future Fund, a nonprofit organization that aims to revitalize and redevelop neighborhoods in Atlanta’s Westside, with a focus on five neighborhoods: English Avenue, Vine City, Ashview Heights, Atlanta University Center and Just Us.

The 390 Sunset Avenue project was highlighted in a Westside Future Fund 2022 Year in Review report, along with developments planned for 839 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and 646 Echo Street NW.

Atlanta-based design and development firm eightvillage is working on the Sunset Avenue project. The firm focuses on “creating place-based ecologies,” seeking to have “a positive impact in communities and the environment through architecture, urban design, sustainability and community development.”

The site is north of Rodney Cook Sr. Park.

The project is expected to break ground in mid-2024.
