The eclectic restaurant owned and operated by husband and wife team Paul and Cynthia T. Luna went dark sometime last week, Creative Loafing (CL) first reported.

The restaurant’s windows are covered from top to bottom with newspapers and a “for rent” sign adorns the space.

Our hearts are broken.

We loved LBM and the team behind it. It was our go-to spot for inexpensive yet delicious food in a space that felt like the Luna’s living room. We even put LBM on our “Top Five Atlanta Restaurants To Visit Before You Die.”

Truly a loss for our city.

What Now Atlanta (WNA) made several attempts to reach the Luna family for comment (every phone number has been disconnected and every email we sent bounced back).

According to CL, Chef Luna moved to Switzerland late last year to be with his wife, leaving the restaurant in the care of his management team.

R.I.P., LBM!

  1. Ken, Paul had a good run with it and probably still would be here if he and Cynthia hadn’t headed to Switzerland. When he left, he handed the reigns over. If you look at many of our known chefs in town, most of them move to other concepts after a few years as well.

    RIP LBM.

  2. Sad. I really liked that, unlike most other newish restaurants in town, this one wasn’t trying so hard to perfectly extract cash from your pocket. Focused on food, not fussiness but the service was still very good.

I hope that other open-minded individuals will see that unique businesses can open and do well on Mitchell Street.
