Tuesday, Dec. 31 was the music venue and watering hole’s last day, according to the company’s Facebook page.

“Last Thursday we got our walking papers,” Star Bar posted to the social media site on New Year’s Eve announcing its impending closure.

“The landlord has decided to rent the space to someone else, giving our employees five days to find new jobs. If you know any bars that are hiring please send us a Facebook message. Tonight is your last chance to party at the Star Bar. Let’s do it up right. See you tonight!”

It’s unclear what might open in the longstanding bar’s place, at 437 Moreland Ave. NE., or why the landlord decided against renewing the lease.

Star Bar’s current ownership indicated on Facebook that “the new operators will have a liquor license in a week or two,” as per the landlord, but no such licenses have yet been filed with the City of Atlanta or submitted for review to the Neighborhood Planning Unit (NPU-N).

Star Bar first opened in 1991 as a hotspot for karaoke, music, and comedy shows.

  1. Hello:
This is not the correct address for this property if it’s the one shown in the article. That building is located at the corner of N. Highland and Elizabeth Street in Inman Park. The proposed design for this project is outstanding and I’m very excited to see the finished project. 1122 Euclid is in L5P but that is a totally different building.
