The popular dance club submitted several applications for building permits to City of Atlanta Tuesday to begin an extensive remodel.

Jungle plans on giving the club a facelift through interior alterations, food service, limited smoking and a new loyalty program.

The 12,000-square-foot dance club, at 2115 Faulkner Road, will remain open during the renovation, reports Project Q, the online lifestyle magazine that first got the scoop on Jungle’s plans.

“We are touching every surface, changing every single public area and the back of house areas as well,” Richard Cherskov, Jungle’s managing owner, told Project Q.

“The space was getting tired and it has needed a renovation for some time. But more importantly, the space needs to be more versatile so we can hold the type of events that people are interested in.”

Jungle plans on completing the renovations in time for Pride in mid-October, according to Project Q.

  1. Thank goodness at least one gay bar in Atlanta realizes that not every gay man smokes cigarettes! We’ve missed the nonsmoking environment at Red Chair.

  2. Amen, Justin! I’d go out to bars/clubs more if there was no smoking. As it stands now, no thank you! Smoking is so disgusting and should be enjoyed outdoors or in the privacy of the smoker’s own home–not in public places.

  3. Urbanist has to post something in everything. Seriously, if the venue isn’t on your list of places you frequent, or in your neighborhood, what’s the point?

I get that we all have the right to voice our opinion in almost any manner and just about wherever we choose, but do you just get off reading your own words and the comments that ensue?

I can’t quite determine whether you are gay or straight, but regardless – get a life.

  4. Wishing them the best of luck…good space, just needing a little updating to be better, and limiting smoking is a great thing.

  5. That logo looks like it was dreamed up on an Amiga. The remodel of the club has created a very different space…I was so disoriented when I entered the club last weekend. I look forward to seeing the rest of the project finished.
