Goodwill will retail “amazing finds” such as clothing, accessories, housewares, and shoes. Profits from the sale of these items are then used to fund the company’s 14 career centers located across the region and online environment, Career Connector. The Metropolitan Parkway Career Center will be their 14th career center location.

Through the career center, the community will have free access to job search resources such as computers, resume writing tools, job listings, employment seminars, software training, and skills training programs. These skills training programs include Technology Careers, Supply Chain Management, Transportation and Logistics (including CDL), and Customer Service/Retail.

“As we put the finishing touches on the new site, our hope is to become part of the fabric of the community and become a catalyst for transformation in south Atlanta,” Goodwill CEO Keith Parker said. “We want to provide the necessary resources and access to those resources that will help the community thrive”.

Goodwill has been awarded a $712,000 grant from Invest Atlanta for City of Atlanta residents and Metropolitan Parkway workforce development services. This grant will support the efforts at the Metropolitan Parkway career center and allow the nonprofit to continue providing job training and additional services to those looking for new career opportunities. This grant will help provide free-of-charge training for students in the CDL (commercial driver’s license) program and the Technology Careers program as well as provide necessary wrap-around services for participants to help ensure their success.
