Four Fat Cows, which offers creative and creamy concoctions, is opening a seventh store in the greater Atlanta area. But, like any great FFC ice cream flavor, there’s a twist: This location will be the business’s first venture into coffee and alcohol.

Owned by mother and son duo Robyn Thompson and Brenden Higbee, Four Fat Cows is not a grab and go ice cream shop. It’s a neighborhood gathering place with a fun and inviting atmosphere.

Coffee Distillery is a completely new venture for them, Thompson said in a phone interview with What Now Atlanta.

“We’ve toyed with the idea for quite a while,” but never found the right location, she said. “We thought the Exchange (at Gwinnett) was a great location to test this out. This will be the test run.”

The shop will be part of the new Exchange at Gwinnett development at 2925 Buford Dr., in Buford. The property offers more than 465,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, professional office space, and comfortable hotel suites as well as luxury residential flats to call home.

The space, which will be larger than most Four Fat Cows locations, is kind of a mixed-use concept, Thompson said. It will be designed to have the two separate concepts in the same area. They are still working out the details, like if there will be one line or two.

Coffee Distillery will serve both coffee and alcohol. The menu will feature classic coffee drinks, as well as cocktails with ice cream or sorbet mixed in. The shop will still offer its full bakery line as well.

They’re having a lot of fun coming up with the recipes, she said.

“It’s fun… when we get together to come up with new menu ideas,” she said. “It’s nice to have that creativity with it.”

Specifics of the menu are still under wraps for the moment, but there will be some creative and unique concoctions, Thompson said.

“It will go beyond boozy milkshakes,” she joked.

Four Fat Cows draws its name from the family’s four children (and original ice cream fans).

Stores offer a wide range of enticing housemade ice cream flavors from everyday favorites to more creative concoctions like chocolate bourbon pecan pie, peanut butter & jelly sandwich, coffee almond fudge, banana pudding, raspberry brown butter jalapeno and more, along with housemade waffle cones. They also offer unique gluten-free options including gluten-free waffle cones and several gluten-free dessert options.

They already have six locations in the greater Atlanta area. Coffee Distillery could potentially merge with other locations, she confirmed.

Although she wasn’t sure about an opening timeline, she’s having fun in the process and looking forward to this new concept.

“We are so excited to launch this new concept,” Thompson said.
