This will be the franchise’s first location in Georgia; Donutchew has several stores in Virginia and one in Maryland.

Donutchew serves mochi donuts, which are made with glutinous rice flour. They often have a signature spherical shape and are known for their bouncy texture.

Donutchew offers unique flavors like honeydew, matcha, maple bacon, and cream cheese Oreo, as well as seasonal favorites like pumpkin. The menu includes other treats like macarons, croffles (a mix of a croissant and a waffle), and bubble tea.

Mochi donuts have been a growing trend in the U.S. in recent years. According to Thrillist, the Japanese-American pastry was highly popularized by the international donut chain Mister Donut.

Georgians might be familiar with other purveyors of the fluffy pastries. Mochinut, another mochi donut franchise, has several locations in the state, including one open at Chattahoochee Food Works and one planned for the Lee + White food hall. Mochibees also has several stores in metro Atlanta.

The Johns Creek location of Donutchew is currently hiring. It’s unclear when it will be open.

The business is operated by JREUSA LLC, which was first registered in the state last fall, according to a filing with the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.
