The new eatery hasn’t been named it is but it is expected to open at the same location, 905 Juniper St NE. Co-owner Eric Simpkins told What Now Atlanta that the restaurant might open after two or three months.
The Lawrence owners, including Simpkins and Darren Carr, will be running the new restaurant. Simpkins said that they are pushing to finish the “build-out, bringing all the pieces together” and finalizing the menu.
The same space is currently being renovated for the new restaurant and it will have a “completely” different concept than The Lawrence, according to Simpkins.
The owners have been teasing the idea of a new concept when they announced The Lawrence’s closure and said at the time that the new spot will reflect the way Atlanta’s Midtown changed over the past decade.
“Midtown is such a different neighborhood now from what it was when The Lawrence opened over a decade ago,” Carr told Beth McKibben at Eater Atlanta at the time. “It’s much more walkable and neighborhood driven, especially this side of Peachtree.”
Simpkins didn’t disclose further details about the new concept but said that it will be strong and “neighborhood friendly” and it will feature a different bar program and cuisine than The Lawrence’s. The now-closed Midtown restaurant featured American cuisine and a Spanish bar program.
