City council approved plans for the 420-acre mixed-use at a meeting Monday, August 5.

“This is an incredible step forward in continued growth and development within College Park,” Artie Jones III, director of economic development for the City of College Park and director of Clearly College Park, said Wednesday in a press release.

“We have anxiously been awaiting the chance to take the next step in moving this project forward, and that time has come; Airport City will soon be underway.”

The new plan by Atlanta-based Sizemore Group was voted on at Monday’s council meeting following the company’s initial presentation in June.

ATL Airport City plans to hold up to five million square feet of class-A office space, with capabilities for corporate headquarters and medical offices.

Plans also call for housing, up to six hotels, restaurants and retail including an outlet mall.

Alongside these structures is the plan for outdoor amenities including new trail ways and “golf-centric entertainment.”

With the approval of the master plan, the City of College Park will now take its first steps to commence the Development of Regional Impact (DRI) process through the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and infrastructure development alongside the Sizemore Group team.

There are no set groundbreaking dates for ATL Airport City at this time.
