According to Chipotle’s website, there are currently 10 locations northeast of Atlanta’s metro area, however, this new outpost will be the first for Lilburn proper. What’s more, the documents reviewed by What Now Atlanta call for a drive-up window, which could suggest that this location will see one of the company’s much-hyped Chipotlanes.

The Chipotlane saw its earliest prototypes being worked out as far back as 2018, and has been hailed as a “game changer” by the likes of QSR Magazine, which pegged the number of Chipotlanes nationwide at about 250 as of fall 2021.

Founded in Denver, CO in 1993, Chipotle has all but disrupted the traditional quick-service model in recent years, spawning a new generation of create-your-own restaurants across just about every culinary tradition imaginable, from salads and poke bowls to pizza and bibimbap.

Today, the company operates some 3,000 locations across the US, all of which are corporate-owned.
