Spice to Table, a new dining concept by Chef Asha Gomez of Cardamom Hill and The Third Space, is slated to open at Studioplex this November, according to a press release Tuesday.

“I’ve always wanted to open a fast-casual breakfast/lunch spot that explores other parts of my global food influences,” Gomez said in the release.

“I grew up in Kerala but I also lived in other parts of India like Gujarat and Bombay before living in areas of New York, and now I find myself calling the American South home. The menu will feature traditional items from all of my favorite food memories but with a few twists.”

The restaurant will feature “globally inspired cuisine,” as well as an open market filled with retail for purchase including spices, sweets, bottled sauces, preserves and more.

Spice to Table will be open for breakfast and lunch daily excluding Mondays at its Old Fourth Ward home off Auburn Avenue across from the Irwin Street Market.

Menu items range from signature dishes including “appam muffins,” to “pork vindaloo sliders, and “sweet and savory crostata.” Spice to Table will also carry a full line of teas, chai and coffee as well as signature sweets, pastries, scones and cookies that will be available for dine in or take away.

“My goal is to make this a neighborhood meeting place – one where you can grab a pastry tray, some coffee, log onto WIFI and hang out or you can come in for a delicious snack or full meal at breakfast or lunch. Spice to Table is another part of my continuing evolution and journey as a chef and restaurateur.”

The restaurant’s décor is inspired by French influences in Southern India found in Pondicherry and Mahe in Kerala, and food is served at communal tables inside Spice to Table, or outdoors in the open space of the market where bistro tables will line the sidewalk.
