Smileys Burger Club is set to open in Decatur this fall, Rough Draft Atlanta reports.
The concept comes from Ean Bancroft and Ross Winecoff, the owners of Mothers Best Fried Chicken, an upcoming restaurant also located in Decatur.
Smileys has been operating as a pop-up, serving smash burgers and fries around metro Atlanta. They recently won Best Burger in the 2024 Creative Loafing Burger Week.
The concept will be taking over the space on Howard Avenue formerly occupied by BBQ Cafe, which closed last year. It is next to the local grocery store Kelly’s Market.
The menu will be simple, operating as as takeout restaurant with streamlined options. Customers can opt for a single, double or triple burger, topped with cheese, sauce and pickles. Additions include grilled onions, jalapeno and bacon bits. Sides include seasoned fries or smiley-shaped fries.
According to a news release, they selected Decatur for the inaugural location of Smileys because “it’s a place where families and friends regularly walk and connect with one another. Smileys will be an extension of one’s front porch right in the middle of Decatur’s Old Depot District.”
