2,700 others are ‘interested’ in attending the event Thursday.

A candlelight vigil is planned to mourn the imminent passing of Murder Kroger and those that have “fallen” at the Old Fourth Ward grocer.

The grocery store, at 725 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, is scheduled to close Friday to make way for 725 Ponce, a new mixed-use project that will be anchored by Kroger.

The vigil would be held Thursday, Oct. 27, from 8 p.m. until midnight, according to the event’s Facebook page.

As of Tuesday morning 654 Facebook users have officially RSVP’d for the vigil and another 2,700 are “interested” in attending.

“[Please] join us in mourning an Atlanta icon (also bring [your] own candles, we’re poor),” according to the event description.

“We are not forgetting those who have fallen at [Murder Kroger]. Lets make it a remembering time.”

The event organizers Rowyn Hirsch, Hailey Mychal Stambek, and Rachel Bowen, have included links to purchase Murder Kroger shirts “so the memory lives on.”

Dylan York, a member of the Facebook event page, offered this banner for “everyone standing in solidarity with another tragic loss in 2016:”

  1. Krueger tried but failed to rehabilitate the stores image but a make-over doesn’t cut it when your produce sucks.

Meanwhile, I’m sure victims of violence and family members of the few who were killed there will appreciate this idiotic event. Nothiing like glorifying violence and poking fun at other people’s pain to make Atlanta look “hip” WTF.

  2. It never ceases to amazing the trash that this website and Dylan York will promote in the name of local celebrity status. If a bunch of women were raped at that location you would probably try to make a dollar off that too
