Plans earlier this month were filed to begin laying the foundation for the project—referred to as Avila Glenwood on official documents—including a parking structure.

The site, at 915 Glenwood Avenue SE, was acquired mid-2015 by Avila.

An estimated 200 apartments with restaurant and retail space will be built from the ground up where U.S. Electric is situated, next to the Beltline’s planned Southside Trail (subarea four) near Glenwood Park.

“[Avila Glenwood] will create a sense of place at the juncture of Glenwood, Ormewood and Grant Park neighborhoods and will enhance the existing retail uses of both Glenwood Place and Glenwood Park,” according to marketing materials for the project.

“Residents of 915 Glenwood will enjoy the true meaning of live/work/play and neighborhood walkability.”

Available in “large” one- and two-bedroom floor plans, features of the units include nine-foot ceilings, “European-style cabinetry and granite countertops,” and “designer” lighting.

Common areas would include a club room, fitness center, “resort-style pool with sundeck and grill area,” a billiards room with dry bar, lounge and flat-screen TVs, and “expansive storage area with bicycle repair room and secure racks.”
