Founder and Chef, Rah Virgo, is working to place a flavorful stamp on foodie passports throughout the metro Atlanta area and it is all inspired by her Caribbean American roots.

Chef Rah graduated from New York’s Ice Institute where she was trained as a fine dining chef. She put time in at some of the best fine dining steakhouses in New York including Del Frisco’s, Parlor, Ruth Chris, and BLT as well as several well-regarded golf clubs in Bergen County before launching RahRahCaterers in 2017. Born in Harlem with roots in Jamaica, Chef Rah made the big moved to Atlanta in 2021.

“An opportunity that I could not pass up brought me to my new home, Atlanta,” Rah said in a prepared statement. “I ran one of the largest kitchens in the entertainment business with ease. This is where I first introduced my Island Roots, to the club with my menu from lobster to various vegan items. Through connections, I soon found myself catering for NBA TV, where I enjoyed introducing new menu items inspired by my upbringing at these events, they were a hit. Island Lobster was born with the idea of marrying lobster and Caribbean flavors with soul.”

Island Lobster offers more than lobster like a variety of wings with flavors such as honey curry, lemon pepper ranch, jerk mango, and sweet Thai chili just to name a few. Also on the menu seafood quesadillas, Rasta pasta, Chef Rah’s infamous Lobster Mac, and an extensive vegan menu including a vegan Lobster ROLL! As well as her delicious zucchini fries.

The heart and soul of this new mobile venture are the lobster rolls. Only using Maine Lobster — because of its sweetness and tenderness — Chef Rah has created seven lobster rolls options. Her favorite is the Rude Gyal: a fried lobster roll served on a bed of lettuce, drizzled with a special Island Lobster Aioli. But those looking for a healthier version, she has a second favorite in the Island Roll: one and a half ounces of lobster meat tossed in flavored butter with sweet red, green and yellow peppers.

Each and every roll is served with Island fries or sweet plantains. Beverages from MossbyRah utilize sea moss from the Virgin Islands, and include a line of smoothies, juices and teas.

Available to be booked for events, Island Lobster’s whereabouts can be found by monitoring the company’s website and Instagram.
