Sear, at 265 Peachtree Center Ave NE, is undergoing an interior redesign and a menu refresh, according to a press release over the weekend.

“Sear has been a stronghold in the Atlanta community for quite some time,” Erica Qualls-Battey, the hotel’s general manager, said in the release.

“We feel this renovation parallels the resurgence of the culinary scene in Midtown, Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods as the city of Atlanta continues to position itself as a cutting-edge culinary destination. Our talented culinarians deserve a look that matches their talent.”

HeCho, Inc. is the top designer overseeing the renovation.

Once complete, the renovated Sear will be a “fire-inspired American steakhouse with local flair,” incorporating ingredients from local Georgia and Alabama farms.

There will be signature craft cocktails and a specialty bourbon bar offering over 20 “unique and local” bourbon selections.

The vision for the new dining area includes an open floor plan, a private waiting area with nearby bar and art elements.

To complement the theme of local-centric iconography, and Sear’s menu of locally-sourced cuisine, artwork by local artist Lynx Nguyen will also be commissioned and etched into the back wall of the space.

“This renovation has taken inspiration from John Portman’s beautiful architecture in the Atlanta Marriott Marquis,” Meinrad Lang III, Director of Sales and Marketing for the hotel, said in the release.

“Every selection in the design was hand-picked or hand-crafted with care, similar to the way the restaurant’s renowned chefs curate their dishes from scratch. We believe this will result in a perfect pairing of a fresh new menu and design aesthetic that will complement one another perfectly. The whole team is excited to share the new, modern Sear with the greater Atlanta community and beyond.”

The private dining rooms will be redesigned as well.

Options will range from space for an intimate reception of 25 guests up to space for 85 seated guests or reception of 100 guests.

Sear will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner later this year, and in the meantime, the onsite sports bar High Velocity will be open for extended hours.

Atlanta Marriott Marquis last year was named “2017 Americas Hotel of the Year.”
