Docent Coffee is now open in the Sweet Auburn neighborhood of Atlanta.
The roaster, coffee shop, bakery, sandwich shop, and “local arts showcase,” is situated at 381 Edgewood Ave SE.
“We’re pretty excited to be serving the communities of Atlanta and beyond, and we hope Docent gives us the opportunity to bring amazing local craft coffee and art to more people,” Nolan Hall, Docent Coffee’s co-owner and roastmaster, said in a press release over the weekend.
Docent Coffee in Sweet Auburn operates as a production and fulfillment location in addition to a retail coffee and café component that is open for breakfast and lunch.
On the menu are in-house baked croissants, homemade sandwiches, soups, and toasts.
The company is also offering a limited number of monthly and yearly coffee memberships called the “Docent Patron.”
Cardholders receive unlimited regular-sized drinks (coffee, espresso, lattes, tea, etc.), as well as discounts on Docent Coffee merchandise, bags of coffee, and special off-site events.
Monthly memberships are $50.
Yearly memberships are $550 (which includes a Docent mug and bag of coffee.)
“Similar to its namesake, Docent wants to guide more people toward not only new and more approachable experiences with great coffee but great art as well,” according to the press release.
Each of its ten current coffees features a local artist’s work on the front of each bag.
“This, in conjunction with individual artist pages on their website and a series of curated events and shows featuring their label artists, is just one of the ways Docent attempts to use its business as a promotional vehicle for the local art scene.”
Docent Coffee is open Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
