The property at 1206 Metropolitan Avenue will transformed into a contemporary art gallery, event space, art studio and retail space, according to an announcement.

When it opens in 2023, the 8,500-square-foot building will host an array of experiences and exhibitions, featuring the work of local and international artists.

“As an artist, when I walk into this space my imagination runs wild,” Mike said in a press release. “It’s been a dream of mine to build a creative epicenter where wild ideas can become a reality. After 10-plus years of dreaming, concepting and planning, it’s finally happening and I can’t wait to share it with the art community in Atlanta.”

Mike is well known for his large-scale murals, featuring bright colors and his “loud” characters. His works has been displayed in cities such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Paris and Shanghai.

With the new location in East Atlanta Village, ABV Agency + Gallery will be able to expand its collective of more than 500 artists with a building that is six times larger than their gallery in Old Fourth Ward, says the press release.

Kronberg Urbanists + Architects, Bayard Builders, City National Bank and Red Bear Holdings have started to transform the former church, with work expected to be complete next year.
