Spoke, at 1450 La France Street, is transforming a former six-acre parking lot into a multi-income housing, green space, and retail center.

A permit application last week was filed with the City of Atlanta to construct the two-story building that will house A Space To Soar.

Constructing the structure is expected to cost $5,000,000 of the project’s $8,407,798 budget.

Dana Lupton, CEO at Moving In The Spirit, in an email Monday confirmed the news with What Now Atlanta citing a March 2020 opening.

“Positioned directly on the Marta rail line, the facility will meet our families’ urgent need for transit-accessibility,” according to the project’s website.

“The deal grants us a 99-year land lease, and the project is eligible for New Market Tax Credits.”

A Space To Soar will offer AV-equipped classrooms which can double as performance spaces, lecture halls, or meeting spaces for special events, and is expected to serve 500 students annually.

Perkins+Will is behind the design of A Space To Soar.

“We look forward to welcoming new families and engaging schools within walking distance of our home, as well as those from across the region who can more easily join us, thanks to our transit accessibility.”

The project is expected to break ground Thursday, according to Curbed Atlanta.

  1. I can attest that groundbreaking began before Thursday. It started on 10/1/18. I live across the street and it’s been shaking my house. I’m thankful that it’s starting because I’m anxious for the rest of the Spoke project to be completed. ESPECIALLY the restaurant. Dying to hear who might be looking at the space.
