Atlanta-based law firm Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers LLP announced last week that they have signed a lease for a 100,000 square foot office space at 1420 Peachtree Street in Midtown. The eight-story building has advertised its approximately 160,000 square feet of newly renovated, Class-A office space as a prime headquarters location with “limitless interior design/build potential.”

The firm will be relocating from The Peachtree Tower at 1355 Peachtree Street, where it was located for more than 30 years. In a press release, the firm cited significant growth over the past several years as the motivation for the move. Terry Brantley, managing partner at Swift Currie, said that “As clients’ demands have grown over the past decade, we have been fortunate to grow our teams in Atlanta and Birmingham to meet those demands. In Atlanta, we now need a larger footprint and more collaborative space; 1420 Peachtree was able to meet those needs.”

The 32 year-old, eight-story building is currently undergoing significant renovates that aim to modernize building systems and common areas, upgrade tenant spaces and expand tenant amenities. The firm hasn’t revealed details of its interior plans for the building, but a listing for the remaining space in 1420 Peachtree indicates that the firm will be occupying at least the 4th through 8th floors. Swift Curries has said that the “new office will feature modern finishes, an updated floor plan and a focus on culture and collaboration, providing plenty of room for future growth.”

The upgrades reflect trends in the ever-growing Midtown neighborhood where the building is cited, where new projects such as the Midtown Union and existing amenities including Pershing Point Park, Piedmont Park and the Eastside BeltLine Trail are attracting lifestyle-minded firms and residents to the area. Swift Currie cites this walkable location and amenity rich building as another prime motivator for the move. “We were looking for a long-term real estate solution that supported our business, culture and the health and wellbeing of our growing team as we continue efforts to attract and retain top talent in one of the more competitive recruiting environments the legal industry has ever seen,” said Michael Rosetti partner and member of Swift Currie’s executive committee.

Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP have been in operation for 50 years, where it has become the largest law firm in Georgia dedicated solely to litigation. The firm employs more than 160 attorneys, with a total of 324 Atlanta-based employees.
