Self-serve frozen yogurt shop files permits for Midtown location.

Yoforia Frozen Yogurt is opening a location in Midtown.

The frozen yogurt shop filed a permit with the city of Atlanta early in June to convert space at 985 Monroe Drive.

Keeping with a low-fat theme, Yoforia will take corner space of the now shuttered Midtown Fit inside the Midtown Connection Shopping Center across from Piedmont Park.

The windows of the storefront are covered from top to bottom with signage from Yoforia announcing their arrival.

Posted hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. until 11 p.m, Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. until 12 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m.

The signage also displayed a list of locations that were coming soon. Athens Downtown, Kennesaw and Decatur were listed for Georgia, joining the recently opened Westside location.

Yoforia Frozen Yogurt was not immediately available for comment.

  1. I’m surprised it took this long for a yogurt place to pop up near a park. I’m sure one on the west side of the park will be announced shortly!

  2. Bring back ice cream! Well, I guess fro yo place will do very well here…I just don’t like that they charge $.49 an ounce when Yogli Mogli is charging $.39 and Menchie’s is charging $.44. At least it’s better tasting than say…Yoreka.

  3. Oh GOD! An extra $.05 – $.10 per ounce! Pure anarchy!

This is one trend that I am a huge proponent of. It’s a snack, not a meal, it’s relatively unobtrusive, and it’s relatively healthy (or at least it can be). In favor here.

By the way, there’s a Gelato place on 10th/Piedmont. I’ve never had anything from there, but from what I hear, it’s horrible.

  4. Why does so much yogurt bother people? There were practically ZERO of these yogurt shops like 2 years ago and there are still areas around Atlanta that are lacking one (ahem… Peachtree Street in Midtown!)

  5. How about a Yoforia on Peachtree or Piedmont (within walking – not driving – distance to where thousands of their target audience members live and work)?

  6. @Billy – Agree with you on price. @Urbanist – As always, have to spout off something negative. It’s getting pretty laughable. If I want yogurt, the extra money won’t stop me, but 25% higher pricing for something like yogurt is high. I’ve been to Yogurtland which is actually my favorite and they’re 33 cents an ounce vs. 49 cents – or 50% higher.

Why can’t someone make a comment on this board without you adding your negative 2 cents?

  7. @ AJ – it’s sarcasm. Unbundle your panties and relax. 25%-50% higher is a big deal, if it were a house, and not a cup of yogurt.

  8. My panties are just fine thanks. If memory serves (based on your many postings), it’s your panties that are usually in a big ole’ wad.

Of course it’s a big deal if it’s a house. I don’t recall saying it’s a big deal as I said “the extra money won’t stop me.” But honestly, I think you’re wrong. There are people out there who would deem it too expensive a snack. Will I pay $4-$5 for a cup of yogurt when I could go to another place and get it for $3-$3.50? Yes I will. Will others? Maybe not.

  9. I agree, while there are tons of yogurt shops around town, there is not a single one within a walkable distance to Midtown. I would love to see one open up on or around Peachtree.
