Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is planned for Midtown Promenade, according to construction plans. Documents indicate the scope of work on the approximately 962-square-foot space includes new floors, walls, fixtures and equipment.

Handel’s is known for its wide range of flavors that rotate monthly. At any given time, customers have dozens of flavors to choose from at each store.

The ice cream shop would join a lineup of several other dining and retail tenants at the commercial center located along the BeltLine Eastside Trail, including Trader Joe’s, Snooze A.M. Eatery, Mellow Mushroom, Les Mains Nail Bar and more.

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream began in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1945. The brand has more than 120 locations, with plans to open several more in 2024.

Last fall, officials expressed plans to grow into more Southeast markets, including Atlanta. A recent job posting sought a district manager to oversee multiple company-operated Handel’s locations in the Atlanta market. The posting refers to an “initial location” set to open in Atlanta and indicates that additional locations are planned.

Handel’s representatives could not immediately be reached for more information about the new store, but this story will be updated when we get more scoop.
