Noble filed a “commercial land development” permit with City of Atlanta Tuesday to prepare the land where the new building will be constructed, at 3462 Peachtree Road. The parcel of land where the hotel is being developed is occupied by Phipps Plaza.

The applicant, Kevin Grass, could not be immediately reached for comment.

An estimated $900,000 will be spent in land development, according to the application.

The hotel would most likely open as an AC Hotel by Marriott, a contemporary brand founded in 1998 with its largest concentration of hotels in Spain, Italy, France and Portugal. Simon Property Group, the luxury mall’s developer, was in talks late last year to bring the AC brand to Buckhead.

Noble has invested more than $2.5 billion in hotels located throughout the United States which are affiliated with brands by Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and Starwood.
