When one Simon Mall fails you, try the one across the street

Armani Exchange is closing their Phipps Plaza location tomorrow, Jan. 8, according to management at the Buckhead location.

In March, the retailer will reopen across the street at Lenox Square Mall, taking space 3047, formerly French Connection (FCUK). FCUK closed at the end of 2010 (story here).

Interestingly enough, management at Lenox Square Mall (yes, management, not their poor excuse for a concierge) argued that Armani Exchange is NOT opening in the former FCUK space.

Our confirmation comes from the retailer, who processed a building permit with the City of Atlanta last week identifying “demolition” to space “3047” as “final plans for Armani Exchange.”

Huh. Well, we’ll be damned. The Lenox Square Mall management who argued Armani Exchange would not replace FCUK confirmed that space 3047 is the shuttered FCUK.

And while Simon Malls figures things out, Armani Exchange will continue business as normal at their Mall of Georgia location.

  1. Funny, I was just thinking today that Lenox would be a better place for Armani Exchange. And the old FCUK space is already under construction (the wall is up in the front) so it all makes sense now.

Also, Prada is opening in Lenox in what was the temporary LV space, correct?

  2. No the temporary Louis Vuitton space will be the new Microsoft store. Prada will be going in Godiva, and I THINK Godiva will going in the old Energie/miss sixty space.

  3. The problem is….these retail stores have the same stuff as the department stores. This is the most ridiculous business move ever. You can get french connection dresses at bloomingdales and belk and they are the same dresses! If you have a flagship store, department stores (on the other side of the mall/nor the mall next door) should not mirror your inventory. I just shook my head when Vince came to phipps (i dont think it will make it).

I wanna see some popular labels come to this streets of buckhead and midtown mile.

  4. I was once in a bar that had urinals like in the picture. I was next in line when one of them opened up, but obviously saw it was not a good idea and waited for another. The next guy after me went ahead, and then got in a fist-fight when the drunken guy using the other urinal accused him of splattering urine on him. Either way, urinals like that are not a good idea.
