The first will occupy a 5,186-square-foot space in the Fernleaf neighborhood off Moores Mill near the new Publix-anchored shopping center in Atlanta’s Upper Westside.

Another full-service location offering surgery, dental, and boarding among other services, is in permitting for 750 Ponce de Leon Place adjacent to Ponce City Market on the Atlanta BeltLine, in a space above a doggy daycare called Spot for Dogs.

A third practice in the works will be a satellite location in a yet-to-be-determined space off East College Ave. in Avondale Estates.

All are expected to open between mid-to-late Summer 2020.

The Village Vets, led by husband and wife team Dr. Will Draper and Dr. Francoise Tyler, currently has three locations in the Atlanta-area in Stone Mountain, Buckhead, and a 24-hour facility in Decatur.

Both 1991 grads of the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine, the vet-duo started their practice when they opened their first location with the purchase of an existing practice Cedar Village Animal Clinic in March 2000.

They eventually changed the name to The Village Vets after relocating to Stone Mountain.

“I’m trying to open practices that give young veterinarians a chance to be partners and have ownership in a practice without worry about having to run it,” Dr. Draper told What Now Atlanta during an interview Friday.

“I want our practices to be an alternative to corporate veterinary medicine.”

While plans to open a Philadelphia location with a former classmate are underway for June 2020, it’s an outlier.

Dr. Draper’s focus is Atlanta.

“This year, we will have six practices open. By 2025, we hope to have another 10 in Atlanta in places like Brookhaven and West Midtown.”
