The popular doughnut shop will be the first to occupy a 1,386-square-foot space in The Village at Druid Hills, a newly constructed shopping center, at 2566 Briarcliff Road NEPano Balomenos, Sublime’s co-owner, told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone conversation Tuesday.

Balomenos and his team chose the North Druid Hills site considering a number of factors like “a lot of existing Sublime customers live and work in the Druid Hills area,” and “there’s a strong office density, great residential presence, and a close proximity to interstate 85.”

The North Druid Hills store will be corporately owned and the team is “focused on building and growing our own stores at this point in time.”

“We’re expanding our offerings in the new location to include the doughnuts we’re known for plus ice cream made in-house with equipment imported from Italy, and new coffee and tea options.”

Kamal Grant, Sublime’s founder and co-owner, is dreaming up flavors like White Chocolate Oreo, Maple Bacon, Strawberry Rose, and Peach Riesling.

“We are very serious about ice cream, and look forward to offering multiple fun flavors at the same level of quality as our doughnuts,” Grant said.

Peter Zakas at Z-Space Design led the charge on the new store’s “polished, clean, and fresh” look.

“We’re taking the Druid Hills space to a whole new level while ensuring it’s still fun and true to the Sublime brand.”

Sublime is expected to open in the new development by November. Balomenos and Grant are scouting the greater metro-Atlanta area for additional growth in the near future.

Sublime, founded in 2008, has a flagship location in Midtown near the Georgia Institute of Technology and a location in Bangkok, Thailand. The bakery serves up doughnuts like Dolce de Leche, Orange Dream Star, and Strawberry Ice Cream Burger.

  1. I was extremely disappointed. I arrived with my family Sunday May 8, Mother Day at 1015 am. There was a very long line and only a few choices of doughnuts. By the time we reached the counter there were almost no doughnuts left not to mention no choice. There was no vanilla for coffee so I did not buy any coffee. We purchased 6 doughnuts of the few they had left. Many left the store after us because there were no doughnuts left.
There was no apology from management and in my opinion no excuse for no doughnuts on a Sunday morning, of Mothers day.
The bathroom had no paper towels as well.
Frankly they were not worth the wait. They were not as good as I had hoped.
This was my first and last time I will go to this shop. I will stick to Dunkin. They are at least dependable.
