Initially slated to open in November of last year, Rena’s Italian Fishery & Grill at 240 South Main Street in Alpharetta will now open, behind schedule but with gusto, mid-February. Darren Henderson, who owns the upcoming restaurant along with nearby Crust Pizzeria, will serve equal parts pasta, seafood and steak-based dishes, breaking down fish and butchering meat onsite.

The restaurant is named for Henderson’s wife, who he said has supported him throughout his career in the hospitality industry. “I named [the restaurant] after [Rena] to say thank you for supporting my career in the restaurant industry for the last 25 years,” Henderson told What Now Atlanta in a previous interview.

The restaurant at the Maxwell development will feature extensive sections for grilled meats, including a 12-ounce bone-in filet, a 9-ounce lamb chop, New York Strip and a veal chop, all cooked on a wood-burning grill and served with a side of mashed potatoes or a medley of red potatoes, asparagus and broccolini. Fish entrees will include salmon, trout, halibut, grouper, bronzino and twin lobster tail dishes, served with the same choice of sides. Especially exciting pasta dishes include a Canadian boar-meat bolognese, seafood canneloni, a steamed clam dish with white wine sauce and fussili amatricana.

Planning to bring between 100 and 200 jobs to the area with the new restaurant, Henderson said that he aims to bring a first-rate restaurant with reasonable prices to his community. An independently-owned 5,000 square-foot even space upstairs, he said, will give community members a place to host events.

Rena’s is primarily offering server positions and is still searching for employees as their opening approaches. Anyone interested in a position can visit the restaurant in-person, where applications will be available, or apply via Indeed.
