Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream In Negotiations For Virginia–Highland Location

Pending a secured lease, an opening is expected by November or December 2020.

The exact location is currently unknown, but the plans are clear: Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream has its eyes set on the Virginia–Highland neighborhood. Co-Owner Donald Sargent told What Now Atlanta (WNA) this week that a lease is in the negotiations stage and the hope is to open by November or December of this year.

Morelli’s Ice Cream was founded in East Atlanta in 2008, co-created by Sargent and his wife, Clarissa Morelli. By 2009, it was named one of the best ice cream shops in America by Bon Appétit Magazine. Flavors include raspberry coke, butter pecan, spiced chai, ginger lavender, and chocolate cheesecake. Morelli’s also offers ice cream cakes and pies. “We do our take on classic flavors, but by making them more creamier, more cookie-r, more fudgy-er … We don’t hold back on [flavor],” Sargent said.

Ahead of WNA uncovering plans for Virginia-Highland, Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream was recently announced as a tenant planned for the ever-growing Chattahoochee Food Works food hall. In addition to its East Atlanta storefront, at 749 Moreland Ave SE #102B, Morelli’s can be found inside Farm Burger Dunwoody and is served out of the We Juice It in the airport.
