Marlow’s Tavern Co-Founder Opening Slightly Different Concept in Westside Village

While Chef John Metz Jr. is keeping the plans close to his chest, The Woodall is slated to debut before the end of the year.

Chef John Metz Jr, who co-owns Marlow’s Tavern, is opening up his first restaurant under the name The Woodall, in Westside Village. What Now Atlanta (WNA) was able to briefly get Metz on the phone, who confirmed the opening, albeit anything else. On top of that, WNA obtained a liquor license request, confirming that The Woodall will serve alcohol.

According to Metz’s representative, Kaffee Hopkins of Sterling Hospitality (the parent company of Marlow’s), the more specific details and concepts will be left up to surprise when The Woodall opens. That opening should be in December, contained within a “brand new spot” — a full build-out at 2260 Marietta Blvd NW.

WNA previously reported on Metz’s Marlow’s Tavern opening up in the same square, which was supposed to arrive sometime in the first half of 2020.  It’s unclear if The Woodall is in addition to or instead of Marlow’s Tavern. Neither Hopkins nor Metz would confirm anything regarding the affiliation.

(Edited for clarity: The Woodall’s concept is in the very early stages)
