Rodriguez said the decision came down to the lack of human resources needed to run Hodgepodge’s three locations.
“Over the past few months our team has been spreading themselves thin trying to keep all three shops operating,” Rodriguez said. “At first it seemed like a temporary crunch, but with this slowly becoming the new normal, it’s not only unfair to our team but goes against our values as a company. Taking a step back, we looked at our finite resources as well as where they would have the greatest impact and tough decisions were made.”
With the closure of the Reynoldstown Hodgepodge, Rodriguez said the coffee shop’s other two locations will now be able to provide “the resources and man power needed for the service and quality you’ve come to expect from us over the last decade. Our team will remain entirely intact, they’ll just be well rested,” Rodriguez said.
Situated in the One Moreland development, at 1 Moreland Ave SE Suite C, Hodgepodge Coffeehouse opened its Reynoldstown doors in 2018. The independently owned and operated coffeehouse serves a full espresso menu using Batdorf and Bronson Certified Organic, Shade Grown, Fair Trade Certified, and Bird Friendly coffee, as well as Mighty Leaf teas.
Its biscuits, scones and cupcakes are made in house daily, and Hodgepodge also serves sandwiches, Jamaican patties, and other snacks each day.
“Hodgepodge is family friendly and devoted to being community focused and environmentally conscious,” according to the company’s website. “We strive to be a unique yet affordable gallery space for local artists to display works of art from all mediums, as well as cultivating a creative haven of discussion and collaboration.”
