An Atlanta bakery’s flagship location will be closing at the end of the month.
Highland Bakery & Kitchen, at 655 Highland Avenue, is reaching the end of its 20-year lease, and the last day of service will be Jan. 31, Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.
The structure that was built in 1930 is being sold to an undisclosed buyer, according to the news outlet.
Founder and CEO Stacey Eames thanked past and present employees, customers, vendors and the community in a Facebook post announcing the closure.
“Although this marks the end of an era, it also signals the beginning of a new chapter for us,” the post said.
The Highland Bakery location near Georgia State University, as well as Eames’ Virginia Highland coffee shop Press & Grind, will remain open. The company’s catering business will also remain.
Highland Bakery opened with a focus on coffee, muffins and breads before expanding “into a full menu that stretches comfortably from breakfast to lunch and brunch.”
