A family-owned bakery from Texas is expanding into metro Atlanta later this year.

Jolly Jolly Bakery has bread baked fresh daily – white, wheat, cinnamon raisin, sugar-free, dinner rolls, baguettes and more – made organically and with no preservatives, like many typical breads.

“All our bread is freshly baked each and every day,” Director of Operations Noel Onobun told What Now Atlanta. “The quality of our taste will make you always come back. Once you taste the bread, you’ll no longer shop at other grocery stores to get your bread.”

They have crafted the quality taste of their Nigerian agege bread, which they call Jolly Jolly Bread, and the offerings don’t stop there. Jolly Jolly Bakery also offers sweet treats and pastries like pound cake, coconut macarons, kolaches and scones, along with a variety of Nigerian snacks and savory items like meat pies, sausage rolls, a type of fritter called akara, and much more. Jolly Jolly Bakery first opened about 13 years ago in Houston, followed by locations in Pearland and Dallas several years later.

Noel’s father, James, was inspired to start the company after having a lifelong passion for baking bread. He built Jolly Jolly Bakery with his wife, Jolly, who the business is named after. The name also refers to the happy, vibrant atmosphere they aim to create in each store.

“When you’re a customer and you walk in, our staff is very enthusiastic,” Noel said. “It’s a jolly place to be in.”

He became involved with the bakery after graduating from college and forgoing a corporate job to help the business grow.

“I wanted to take my family business to new heights,” he said.

Expanding to Georgia made sense for Jolly Jolly Bakery, which has a large e-commerce customer base in Atlanta.

“Most of our customers actually come from Atlanta,” Noel said. “They order online, and our bakery is always shipping to Atlanta, Georgia. So we felt like our next spot should be Atlanta.”

The diversity and large size of the city, along with its large foodie population and booming culinary scene, also made it an ideal first location for Jolly Jolly Bakery’s first expansion out of Texas.

The first location in the Peach State is expected to open this October in Lilburn, followed by more anticipated growth for Jolly Jolly Bakery.

“After Atlanta, we hope to expand way more as well,” Noel said.
