Del Taco is set to rise in the City of East Point, at 849 Cleveland Ave, on land currently housing the long-shuttered Pleaser’s Adult Entertainment.

Permitting is underway to build the new 2,420-square foot, free-standing restaurant from the ground up.
Del Taco East Point is scheduled to open late-2021, a restaurant spokesperson shared with What Now Atlanta via email this week, but is keeping mum about additional details for now.
The quick-service, California-based Mexican food restaurant will neighbor Popeye’s and will be across the street from a retail plaza anchored by Walmart.
In April of 2018, franchise veteran Mac Kamara of MK Energy, LLC, which operates brands such as BP, Circle K, and Subway, signed on to develop seven Del Taco locations across the south-central area of Atlanta, where the group’s operations are based with additional locations in California.
In August of 2019, the first of the seven Del Tacos under Kamara’s tutelage was announced for Riverdale.
The East Point location will be one of Kamara’s seven–and he is shooting for a 2020 opening versus late 2021.
“I’ve seen firsthand how Del Taco’s winning combination of freshly-prepared food served at a tremendous value creates fans and drives traffic,” Kamara told Business Insider at the time.
“Del Taco, an iconic California brand, truly delivers what consumers today want, and I’m excited to be one of the brand’s franchise partners to escalate its growth across the Atlanta area.”
Companywide, in 2012, the company released ambitious plans to bring 60 new restaurants to the region, beginning with a Snellville outpost.
Several aspects of construction are expected to total $308,000, according to one official filing, but the total investment is $3 million, according to Kamara.
