“Peter is excited to build on the restaurant’s rich legacy and continue to define modern Southern cuisine,” the Athens restaurant said in a social media announcement.

Dale’s restaurant experience includes several Athens and Atlanta concepts: the Mediterranean-inspired The National (which he opened with Acheson in 2007), healthy comfort-food spot Maepole, and candy company Condor Chocolates. He was previously an owner of the seafood and cocktail bar Seabear Oyster Bar.

Dale and Acheson have known each other since 2002. Dale previously worked in the kitchen at Five & Ten with Acheson as a culinary mentor, Rough Draft Atlanta reports.

The restaurant will be getting some work done this summer, with updates planned for the interior and better soundproofing planned for the dining room, according to the news outlet.

Five & Ten first opened in 2000 at a different location before moving to its current spot on South Milledge Avenue in 2013.

“The menu has always been an open interpretation of Southern food, melding Georgia cookery with French and Italian influences I learned growing up,” Acheson describes on the restaurant’s website. “It’s been a very fun restaurant over the years.”
