Chef Roberto “Beto” Correa, owner and executive chef of Beto’s Tacos, is bringing his signature Mexican street tacos to Johns Creek with a new outpost, as he confirmed to What Now Atlanta.
The 2,400 square-foot restaurant at 6386 McGinnis Ferry Road will embody a casual vintage style that recreates the experience of eating street food in Mexico City. There will be indoor and outdoor seating, soccer streaming on TVs, and Latin American music playing in the background.
Correa, who is originally from Mexico, has curated a menu of 20 different tacos, each one representing a different region in his homeland, and includes traditional options such as tripa (grilled tripe), lengua (beef tongue), and cabeza (beef head). Much like a taco cart in an urban city, Beto’s makes its al pastor off of a trompo, or vertical rotisserie. The restaurant also brews its own craft beer.
“Each time I go to Mexico, I explore more options and we put up different tacos,” said Correa. “I love preserving the culture.”
This will be Beto’s third location, with two other restaurants already running in Suwanee and Sugarloaf. Correa says that he plans to expand even further due to high demand from customers, particularly those who travel several miles to visit one of his restaurants.
The Johns Creek location will create approximately 25 to 30 new jobs. For Beto, professional development is an essential part of the culture at his business. “We’ve trained a young person who doesn’t even know how to cut a lime, who ends up becoming a kitchen manager,” said Correa. “It’s very important to create new opportunities for everyone.”
Beto’s Tacos in Johns Creek is expected to open this summer 2022.
