The first Walmart outpost of Apotheos Roastery is opening Sept. 25, 2023, at 5200 Windward Parkway in Alpharetta, the pilot location that’s preceding several others underway in Georgia.
The upcoming locations will be in Athens, Woodstock, Dallas, Dunwoody and Lilburn. They are in various stages of development, but are all expected to be open by the end of the year, hopefully in November, said Luke Hughes of Everyday People Group LLC, which owns Apotheos Roastery.
In addition to their downtown Kennesaw roasting facility, Apotheos Roastery has an existing brick-and-mortar location in West Midtown in the Elevance Health building.
Hughes told What Now Atlanta that the Apotheos Roastery outposts in Walmart stores will serve simple, cost-effective coffee drinks and baked goods for customers to pick up before or after their shopping trip.
“We understood you’re either gonna be shopping or finishing shopping when you visit us, so it’s easy to handle,” Hughes said of the drinks and food that will be available. “Also we wanted to fall in line with Walmart’s idea of ‘everyday low prices.'”
Drinks will all be 16 ounces, and they’ll only set you back $5, regardless of modifications, so go ahead and add that extra espresso shot or opt for your favorite alternative milk.
But that simplicity doesn’t mean the drinks will be run of the mill. The Peachtree Latte is flavored like the official fruit of Georgia, and the Neopolitan Latte evokes flavors of ice cream.
Hughes said they will also be introducing empanada-like treats stuffed with sweet or savory fillings. (Everyday People Group LLC also owns Gabriel’s Bakery in Marietta, which will be providing the baked goods.)
Apotheos Roastery will be carrying out their Hunger Is a Choice program with these new locations, working with local school districts to pay off school lunch debt, provide funding for free breakfast programs, support gap meal programs for students during summer break and donate to local food banks.
