A banner displayed over the old Lucha Taqueria Libre in Buford suggests a new tenant called Tacos 1989 may be arriving soon. The 2525 Hamilton Mill Rd building is currently being vacated by Lucha Taqueria Libre, which is listed as “closed” on Google after two years of being open.
Thanks to a tipster, What Now Atlanta was able to obtain a photograph taken of the property that’s sporting some fresh new signage. While the name may be reminiscent of LA’s Tacos 1986, the branding couldn’t be any more different — suggesting it’s an entirely new concept.
Lucha Taqueria Libre’s website is down and a quick visit to its Facebook page shows it’s currently clearing house, selling cash registers, decor, and grills. Lucha Taqueria Libre’s last day of operation was Sunday, August 8. WNA reached out to the restaurant to see if they knew anything about Tacos 1989, but they have yet to comment.
