The former is slated to open in June, and the latter in August, according to a Tuesday statement.

The two concepts, which What Now Atlanta first reported on in January, will both occupy the over 12,000 square foot iconic Dailey’s location located at 17 Andrew Young International Boulevard NE.

Red Phone Booth, a cigar lounge concept, will be housed in 4,000 square foot space on the first floor. On the second floor, Amalfi Pizza, a “traditional Neapolitan trattoria,” will occupy the remainder of the building.

De Haan is optimistic about Downtown’s momentum: “With the booming businesses and tourism in the area, we are excited to bring our inventive concepts to downtown Atlanta,” the CEO told Central Atlanta Progress, according to the statement. “Downtown has witnessed remarkable growth and investment over the past five years.”

Red Phone Booth will be the the start of something new, as the first of a multi-location franchise roll-out. The concept, an homage to the Entertainment District’s Prohibition bar, will feature an extensive classic craft cocktail and cigar program led by “spirit specialist” and certified tobacconist Tom McGuire.

Expect fancy hand chipped double-reverse osmosis ice, a collection touting “some of the rarest liquors available” and over a dozen tinctures, bitters and flavoring agents.

Guests will still enter via a secret English-style red phone booth as Prohibition-goers did in Buckhead.

As for Amalfi Pizza, the restaurant will be open seven days a week. The concept will be centered around two 6000 pound wood-burning brick ovens imported from Italy that will reportedly have to be lifted into the second floor space by cranes.

The dining room will include seating for 170, large semicircular booths, custom wrought iron chandeliers along with Juliet balconies overlooking an Italian-inspired entryway – true to Amalfi Pizza’s theme of authentic Italy.

The menu will include Neapolitan-style pizzas as well as appetizers, salads, pasta dishes and original desserts from Dailey’s recipes.

In preparation for this venture, both De Haan and Operating Partner, Greg Grant completed an apprenticeship and traveled to Naples to familiarize themselves with authentic Neapolitan pizza and source the freshest ingredients.

What do you think of the concepts? Have you visited Prohibition in the past? Did you enjoy the establishment? Tell us below…

  1. Sounds great! With Amalfi’s being upstairs I certain the ventilation is the best out there. That is the worst thing about cigar bars is the ventilation. I loved Prohibition but I’m not a smoker, the smoke would be unbearable and you smelled like you’d been rolling in an ashtray. The craft cocktails were the best though. Hopefully they will work it out b/c pizza smelling like cigars is not a good idea.

  2. Downtown Atlanta needed a good cigar lounge.. This makes me ECSTATIC.. When will you be ready to start taking event bookings?

  3. Visited Prohibition several times in the past. Excited to see someone bringing the idea back.
