Utopia is the new concept planned for 2469 Piedmont Rd NE, according to a building permit application with the City of Atlanta.
The one-story property includes a 1,347-square-foot outdoor patio and 2,011 square feet of indoor space. Construction plans show room for indoor dining and a bar, in addition to the patio. The space will get new paint and wallpaper, but in general, Utopia is moving into the space “as is.” No mechanical, electrical or plumbing work is needed, according to the application.
Zesto, an Atlanta eatery that has been around for decades, closed the location on Piedmont Road last year. Locations remain in East Atlanta, Forest Park and Tyrone. Zesto started in the 1940s only serving ice cream, before eventually adding burgers, hot dogs, chicken and sides.
It’s not yet clear when Utopia will open or what the menu will be like. Ownership couldn’t be reached for comment, but this story will be updated when What Now Atlanta learns more.
