Tasha Cyril, co-owner of Belle & Lily’s Caribbean Brunch House, APT. 4B and Ms. Icey’s Kitchen and Bar will debut her newest concept, J’Ouvert Caribbean, on Main Street in Uptown Atlanta this spring. Her partners Asim Walker and Clive Ruddock are also involved with the new project.

“’J’Ouvert’ is a French Creole term that can be translated as ‘opening of the day,’ or ‘start of the day,’” Cyril tells What Now Atlanta. “It’s a celebration that starts early in the morning before Carnival. I don’t like working late, so I’m excited to open another brunch restaurant, open from 9am to 5pm.”

A native of the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, Cyril says she’s especially excited about the piña colada French toast and Trinidadian doubles.

“They’re a guilty pleasure, but since they’re vegan I don’t feel as bad about eating six of them,” says Cyril. J’Ouvert will also serve jerk chicken and other Caribbean classics for meat eaters.

The restaurant will open in a 2,500-square-foot space right on Main Street in the Uptown Atlanta, a pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly development centered on Lindbergh MARTA Station. A small patio, Caribbean décor, and island music complete the picture.

“When Revel [Uptown Atlanta’s retail partner] contacted us about the space, it was such a blessing,” says Cyril. “This is a perfect location. Main Street is so easily accessible, people can see us from the road and get here without any stress.” She says that they hope to open in late spring.
